Having had his gym induction with staff at the Herongate Club in Hungerford, which is just around the corner from school, Jamie is really enjoying his regular visits to the gym. He starts his workout by warming up, by using the treadmill, stair climber and/or elliptical machine, before moving onto using the weights for strength training. This term in English, Hazel Class are reading Superworm by Julia Donaldson, a wonderful story that also highlights the very important topic of caring for animals – both big and small.

On Wednesday 11th February Cedar, Chestnut and Hazel Classes all got on a big coach to go to see a performance of The Gruffalo’s Child at The Hexagon in Reading.

On Thursday 5th February Ash Class went to Rosie’s Chocolate Factory near Wargrave.

Maple Class enjoyed some extra special activities when they visited Hungerford Hub and Library on Tuesday 9th December.

As part of their learning about Ancient Egypt, Maple class visited Ufton Court in Reading, where they experienced life as part of the Royal Egyptian Household.

All our classes have entered into Beale Wildlife Park's Halloween Scarecrow Competition!

Seven pupils from Beech and Maple classes had a marvellous time at the Autumn Harvest Celebration Day, on Wednesday 1st October at Newbury Showground, which was organised by the Newbury and District Agricultural Society.

It was a glorious, autumnal day on Tuesday 23rd September when Ash class paid a visit to Shalbourne Community Growers.

At the end of the summer term Ash class took their final Big Trip of school year to Lagoona Park in Reading.

Cedar class have recently been learning about different professions. As part of this learning topic, the class were visited by Claire, a Veterinary Surgeon and Charlie, a Trainee Veterinary Nurse, from The Veterinary Hospital in Hungerford to find out about their jobs.

On Wednesday 16th July, we were really pleased to welcome a team from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue to school.

At the end of the Summer Term the whole of Oaklands School participated in its annual Sports Day.

Hazel class had an exciting time exploring the ball pits, trampolines, painting, swings, roundabouts, go-karts, water stations, and slides at Swings and Smiles in Thatcham.

Some of our pupils and staff had a great time learning new skills at Hungerford Rugby Club.

Hazel class have engaged in some great learning activities since the start of the spring term.

On Wednesday 8th January Maple Class began the New Year with a visit to Oxford University Museum of Natural History.
