A very warm welcome to
Oaklands School in Hungerford

Oaklands School is a co-educational, independent Special Educational Needs (SEN) day school in Hungerford, West Berkshire. We provide unique, contemporary and enjoyable learning experiences for young people aged 5 – 16 years with special and individual needs. We offer places to children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in place, via Reading and West Berkshire local authorities.

Our school offers a warm and friendly environment for learning. We provide specialist support for pupils with unique learning profiles including, autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated communication and language needs, as well as social, emotional and mental health needs.

We believe that such differences need not be barriers to success, and we have taken the very best school practices and built them into our school.

After an inspection by Ofsted in June 2024, the school received the top grading of  “Outstanding” for pupil personal development and a “Good” grading across all other areas of the school that includes the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes and leadership and management. The report said: "The school uses the “Oaklands Way” to make the school values of respect, honesty, kindness, commitment and creativity clear."

Our curriculum offer is broad, balanced, and personalised to meet each individual pupil’s needs and is supplemented by a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

Our approach fits perfectly with the children’s EHCP plans that encourage personalisation, partnership working, accountability and best value for money.

We welcome parental and carer engagement and feedback on all aspects of our school. Our success will be measured by your success.

Just as “Mighty oaks from little acorns grow” we are looking to grow as a school. So we have several opportunities if you would like to join our flourishing team. Check out our current vacancies.
