At the end of our annual End of Year Celebration, which took place in the Auditorium of the Herongate Club on Thursday 16th July, we said goodbye to three of our pupils, Isaiah, Jamie and Trinity, who are now moving on to continue their education at college.

To round off our last full week of the Summer Term, Oaklands pupils enjoyed a day of fun sports activities, both at school and at the Herongate Club.

On Wednesday 15th July Maple class brought their learning to life when they enjoyed a fantastic trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens.

Six intrepid pupils from Beech class took a trip to the River Kennet at The Wilderness, Kintbury for ARK (Action for the River Kennet) River School last week.

Beech class finally got to visit Winchester Science Centre last week, after their original trip was cancelled due to the extreme heat a couple of weeks ago.

Recently Cedar and Oak classes joined together to learn about the Solar System and make paper mache models of the planets.

What a lovely week we have had, especially after the very hot end to last week. Everyone returned feeling refreshed, happy, and ready to learn.

Due to a Red Weather Alert , from 4pm today until 11am on Friday from the Government, school will be closed for the next 2 days. We will reopen on Monday 29th June.

We have received the following communication from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service regarding water safety.

Elm and Willow classes travelled to Bristol Zoo Project last Friday (19th June) where they explored the Bear Wood and the African Forest!

On Tuesday 16th June a team of pupils from Beech, Cedar, Maple and Oak classes represented Oaklands School by taking part in a special Inclusive Sports Festival which was organised by the Independent Schools Association (ISA) and Power2Inspire and held at Leighton Park School in Reading.

Last Friday (12th June) Hazel class took a trip to Smelly Wellies Farm in Woodcote. Their Class Teacher, Charlotte, fills us in on their amazing day out. Pupils throughout the school have recently been participating in some marvellous music sessions with Sam from Groove Studio.

We were ecstatic to hear that Isaiah, in Ash class, had achieved 91% in his recent Open Awards Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics!

Pine class took a trip to We The Curious in Bristol at the end of Summer Term 1. We The Curious is an award-winning science museum with 200+ playful exhibits and the UK’s only public 3D Planetarium. The perfect place for curious minds, big and small!

Just before the end of Summer Term 1 Ash class went to London for the day on their BIGGEST BIG TRIP to date!

At the end of Summer Term 1, Maple Class enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to The Roman Baths in Bath.
