Pine Class

Welcome to Pine Class!
Pine Class is a calm, nurturing, inclusive and thoughtfully adapted learning environment to help meet the needs of the children within in. Our curriculum is based around the Foundation Stage Early Learning Goals and we carefully plan and tailor our curriculum around the child's needs and interests.
Pine Class is led by the Lower School Lead Teacher, Kim Chivers, with the support of a fantastic team of teaching assistants – Emily Noon, Clare Cadle, Lucy Mitchell and Leigh Woolford.
Together, we create a calm, structured, and engaging sensory space where every child in Pine Class can thrive socially, emotionally and academically.
Our biggest focus is communication. We support each child by teaching new vocabulary and modelling how to articulate speech, as well as using colourful semantics - a therapeutic speech and language tool that uses colour-coding to help the children build sentences and improve and increase their vocabulary.
Pine Class love exploring and learning through practical, hands-on experiences and creative play; from weekly cooking, to gardening and developing important life skills, which includes going on regular trips and walking into Hungerford to be a part of the local community!
We explore a wide range of books throughout the year, with stories carefully chosen that link to our topic. As we adapt our reading choices to suit the needs and interests of the class, so our book list is always growing!
