Pine Class

Welcome to Pine Class – a nurturing and inclusive learning environment designed to meet the unique needs of our wonderful learners. Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Year 1 frameworks, and we carefully tailor our approach to support each child at their individual stage of development.
Pine Class is led by Class Teacher Esté Rautenbach, with the fantastic support of Teaching Assistants Tash Self and Andrea Komora. Together, we create a calm, structured, and engaging space where every child can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
A key focus in Pine Class is communication. We support each child in finding and using their voice – whether that’s through verbal language, visuals, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System). Helping our pupils express themselves confidently and feel understood is at the heart of everything we do.
We also focus on learning through play, sensory experiences, clear routines, and meaningful connections, always aiming to celebrate progress in all its forms.
We explore a wide range of books throughout the year, with stories carefully chosen each week to link to our current topic. As we adapt our reading choices to suit the needs and interests of the class, our book list is always growing!
