Charlotte, Hazel Class's Teacher, has shared an update on their current learning.
This term in English, we are reading Superworm by Julia Donaldson, a wonderful story that also highlights the very important topic of caring for animals – both big and small.
When Hazel Class came in after lunch today, they discovered a tuff tray filled with soil and some wiggly worms! We talked about how, even though worms are small, they are still living things and need to be treated with care and respect. We learned that worms may not have arms or legs, but they have five heart-like structures!
The children carefully handled the worms and observed how they moved. Using magnifying glasses, we took a closer look and appreciated just how fascinating and impressive they are. We also learned about what worms like to eat, such as leaves and old fruit and vegetables – especially in compost.
Hazel Class were amazing and listened so well to reminders from adults about using kind, gentle hands. Great job, everyone! Worms certainly are super! 🪱✨
