Our Two Campuses

Two Campuses Banner.png

During the summer of 2026 we expanded our school from one to two campus buildings – our existing campus (Tealgate) and a new campus (Herongate) which is just across the road from Tealgate, opposite the Herongate Club.

Why do we have two campuses?
Our two-campus model enables us to organise classes and learning communities in ways that reflect pupils’ differing cognitive profiles, developmental stages and individual needs.

Each campus provides a smaller, more cohesive community where pupils can build positive relationships, feel understood and develop a strong sense of belonging. This allows us to provide learning environments that are appropriately matched to pupils, while ensuring they receive the specialist educational, therapeutic and pastoral support they need.

One school across two campuses
Although classes are based across two campuses, Oaklands remains one school. Both campuses share the same values, leadership, policies, safeguarding arrangements, curriculum approach, behaviour expectations and high standards.

Staff communicate regularly and leaders work across both sites to ensure consistency and respond effectively to pupils’ needs. Staffing, therapy, resources and supervision are planned across the school so that pupils remain safe, supported and able to make progress.

How do the two campuses work together?
We operate as one school across two campuses. We follow the same policies, safeguarding procedures, behaviour expectations, curriculum approach and quality assurance processes. The staff handbook supports this.  Staff communicate regularly and leaders work across both sites to ensure consistency.

How do leaders know standards are consistent across both campuses?
Leaders regularly visit both sites, conduct learning walks (Quality Assurance calendar/monitoring of pupil workbooks), monitor safeguarding, review pupil progress, observe practice and meet with staff. Information from both campuses is reviewed centrally to ensure consistent standards.

What makes us an effective school?
We pride ourselves on our strong working relationships, specialist support, high expectations for pupils and staff and a child-centred approach.

How does our two-campus curriculum model work?
We remain one school community with a shared vision, values, curriculum framework and therapeutic approach. The two-campus model enables us to provide increasingly personalised learning environments whilst maintaining consistent expectations and high-quality provision.
