Our pupils have been trying out a new teaching and learning music platform called Charanga.
Maple class was one of the first classes to try it out. They learnt a lovely song called 'Let Your Spirit Fly' using glockenspiels and their voices. They also got moving by participating in Charanga's 'Stretching Our Body' session.
Singing offers significant physical and mental health benefits, including boosting mood by releasing endorphins and serotonin, reducing stress (cortisol), and strengthening the immune system. It acts as an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation, improves lung capacity, and enhances cognitive function, memory, and social connection.
Learning a musical instrument as a child provides significant, lasting benefits by enhancing brain development, improving academic performance, and nurturing social skills. Key advantages include stronger memory and executive function, increased self-esteem, improved hand-eye coordination, and a structured emotional outlet. It essentially boosts cognitive ability and fosters discipline that aids in overall personal growth.
It was a really fun, interactive music lesson which Maple class enjoyed immensely!
