On Tuesday (2nd December) the 8 winners of our Christmas Tree Decorating Competition went to Willis Farm Christmas Trees to make their own decorations out of foliage and pine cones and to choose the School's Christmas Tree.

It's National Tree Week. As well as learning about the important part that trees play in our environment (because they produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide to combat climate change, and provide essential habitats for wildlife) we've been holding a Christmas Tree Decorating Competition.

We have introduced a programme to all year groups at school called myHappymind. myhappymind is based around helping children to understand how their brain works and to support them in developing positive skills and habits to be their very best selves!

Armistice Day, or Remembrance Day as it's also known, marks the very day that World War One ended in 1918. Oaklands School has been marking the occasion in a variety of ways.

Just before we broke up for the half term holiday, Pine class took a trip to Butterfly World & Farm Park which is in Wroughton in Wiltshire.

Before we broke up for the half term holiday Chestnut held their own Halloween party in class. Staff and pupils dressed up as Gru and Dave from Minions, a spooky witch and Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Ash enjoyed their BIG TRIP of the half term last Thursday (16th October) when they took a trip to the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover.

Seven pupils from Beech and Maple classes had a marvellous time at the Autumn Harvest Celebration Day, on Wednesday 1st October at Newbury Showground, which was organised by the Newbury and District Agricultural Society.

World Teachers’ Day is held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe. It has been celebrated since 1994.

Today (Friday 26th September) is National Teaching Assistants’ Day, so we’d like to celebrate all our Totally Awesome TAs for their hard work and amazing efforts throughout the year!

On Thursday 17th July, the pupils and staff at Oaklands School were delighted to welcome Lee Dillon, MP for Newbury, when he visited the school.

We're pleased to announce that we're holding our next Open Day for prospective pupils, their parents and carers on Saturday 18th October from 10am - 1pm.

This year we were really pleased to be invited to exhibit our pupils' work at the Newbury Show, which was held at Newbury Showground on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September.

At the end of the summer term Ash class took their final Big Trip of school year to Lagoona Park in Reading.

Before we broke up for the summer holidays, Maple class took an extra special trip to Bournemouth for the day.

On Wednesday 16th July, we were really pleased to welcome a team from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue to school.

At the end of the Summer Term the whole of Oaklands School participated in its annual Sports Day.

Horse riding is an integral part of our curriculum at Oaklands School. Chestnut class have just started having lessons.
