Elm and Willow classes travelled to Bristol Zoo Project last Friday (19th June) where they explored the Bear Wood and the African Forest!
The visit was inspired by the book the classes are reading, "When the Sky Falls" by Phil Earle, which tells the inspired by real life story about the incredible friendship between a young boy and a silverback gorilla during the Second World War.
There are seven gorillas at Bristol Zoo Project; adult females Touni, Kala and Kera, adolescent females Ayana and Afia, and juvenile males Juni and Hasani and our pupils got to hear a talk about them while watching them being fed with a wide range of vegetables.
They also saw a wide range of other animals including the two cheetah brothers - Boma and Nasir, geladas, the giraffes - Tico and Dayo, meerkats, zebras, ostriches and a wolverine.
It was a fabulous day out in the sunshine!
