A Busy Week in Bay Tree Class

What a lovely week we have had in Bay Tree class, especially after the very hot end to last week. Everyone returned feeling refreshed, happy, and ready to learn.

It was wonderful to see how pleased the children were to see one another again. They have settled back into their routines beautifully.

This week, we introduced a new relaxation session into our daily timetable. After lunch, the children have the opportunity to lie down comfortably with pillows and sensory resources while listening to calm, relaxing music. We also use deep-pressure massagers on hands, feet, and legs where appropriate.

The children have responded really positively to this new part of the day. It has been lovely to see how receptive they are to the calming sensory input after a busy and energetic breaktime. The sessions are helping everyone to feel settled, regulated, and ready for afternoon learning.

Also, this week, the children have been busy making pirate flags using lolly sticks. They carefully painted the sticks black and then worked hard to stick them together to create their own fantastic pirate flags. Great work, everyone! This activity links to our class book, Don’t Disturb the Pirate!, which tells the story of Patch, a naughty puppy who has run away. The children have enjoyed helping to search for Patch while trying not to wake the pirates along the way!
