National Teaching Assistants' Day 2026

We're very proud to be celebrating National Teaching Assistants' Day which is taking place today (Friday 25th September).

Today we celebrate the hard work, dedication, and vital support that teaching assistants (TAs) provide, not just in our our classrooms, but in classrooms across the UK.

Every school has a team of talented TAs. The calm presence during phonics. The guidance during maths. The reassuring voice when a pupil feels overwhelmed.

Teaching assistants are often the first to notice when something isn’t quite right, and the first to celebrate when something finally clicks. They build confidence quietly. They spot potential early. They help turn small steps into big progress.

National Teaching Assistants’ Day exists to recognise those moments. The unseen encouragement. The extra patience. The real difference TAs make every day.

Our school could not function without our tremendous TAs! On National Teaching Assistants' Day we want to thank them for the incredible job they do and the difference they make to our pupils' lives. We think you'll agree our TAs are Totally Amazing!

As part of the celebrations we asked our TAs what the best part about being a Teaching Assistant is and what their most rewarding moment as a Teaching Assistant was.

Here's what they said.
