Ash Class have raised almost £90 in aid of Newbury Soup Kitchen, with over £65 of that total being raised by one student alone.
Before Christmas, Ash Class pupil and talented artist, Eliza, made a range of her own beautiful Christmas cards which she sold to other pupils, staff and parents and carers.
Eliza created five designs which featured a festive robin, two happy hamsters in Santa hats and a super cute dachshund wearing reindeer antlers!
Eliza said, “I decided to make Christmas cards when I drew a robin, and Olivia, one of Ash Class’s Teaching Assistants, said that I should make a card and raise money for charity. I chose Newbury Soup Kitchen because I wanted to help local people. I like art because it calms me, and it's very fun. I like drawing with pens and making models with clay. I’m very proud of myself for raising money, and I will definitely do this again next year! I appreciate everyone's positive feedback and thank them for helping me raise money.”
Executive Headteacher, Georgios Chatzakis, said, “At Oaklands School we value creativity, respect and kindness and we aim to instil these values in our pupils every day, and in all that we do. We call it, ‘The Oaklands Way’. I’m so proud that Ash Class has embodied our values by using their creativity and showing kindness by supporting such an incredible local charity.”
Well done Ash class, and especially Eliza, for showing goodwill and thinking of others.
