Elm and Willow Classes

This page will be updated for the new school year 2025/26.
Welcome to Elm and Willow Classes!
Our young people are encouraged, supported and nurtured to engage and flourish within the school, and with their education. We strongly believe in an individualised approach to learning and developing understanding and applying this to the world around us. Every opportunity for new experiences is harnessed, which includes a range of off-site trips. We make excellent use of our close proximity to Hungerford town centre. We very much enjoy developing life skills in the real world, for example visiting the local canal, where we can observe and monitor the wildlife. Learning in the classroom becomes more meaningful, with research-based project work and presentations. The class enjoys discussing new concepts to consolidate and broaden their understanding. Our learners are supported by experienced staff members including our class teacher, Philippa.
Core academic subjects are generally studied in the mornings, with dedicated lessons in Mathematics and English. In the afternoons, students engage in a range of subject areas including Science, Geography, and History, as well as practical and creative activities such as cooking and art. We have the opportunity to attend PE weekly at the wonderful leisure centre just opposite the school, and we go horse riding and swimming locally. These provide not only opportunities for physical fitness but improved confidence and the development of social, and transferable skills.
In Elm and Willow Classes, we create a safe and relaxed environment where learners feel confident to be themselves and explore learning about the world around them and develop essential knowledge and skills for a successful and independent future.
